Changes in Store for Moody’s Core

The Tri-City News – Changes in store for Moody’s core.

Port Moody’s vision for a post-Evergreen Line community includes new mixed-use neighbourhoods, walkable neighbourhoods and even high-density towers in Moody Centre.

The draft of the official community plan update, which has been in the works since shovels went in the ground for Evergreen, was presented to council’s committee of the whole on Tuesday. It pulls together information a public survey, public input session and a design charette and offers the following changes:

• Western end of Moody Centre, next to Barnet Highway: Pictured as PoMo’s western gateway, the proposed changes will bring in more commercial space to serve local residents. Increased density comes with buildings ranging from six to 12 storeys, with multi-family residential development encouraged.

Highrises Proposed for Lynn Valley

Highrises proposed for Lynn Valley.

Neighbours are being asked to comment on two preliminary development proposals that would see three new highrise towers built in the centre of Lynn Valley.

If approved, the construction of the residential towers would begin transforming the heart of the community into the commercial and residential hub envisioned through about 15 years of planning.

The two projects – both in the “pre-application” stage, according to Bydwell – are being put forward by Safeway and Bosa, the corporate owner of the Zellers property.

Developer Floats Lower Cap Revamp

Developer floats Lower Cap revamp.

DEVELOPERS are looking to completely revamp a large section of the Lower Capilano neighbourhood, converting what is largely empty space to a “village centre” complete with multifamily homes, a community centre and public plaza.

Larco Investments presented the plan to neighbours at two meetings last week. The proposal, still in its preliminary stages, would see a cluster of multi-storey residential buildings and a limited amount of commercial space appear on what is now a vacant lot – once the home of the Capilano Winter Club. The 4.35-acre site sits between Curling Road and Fullerton Avenue to the west of Capilano Road.
