Proposal Years Ahead of a (Possible) Station

The Tri-City News – Proposal years ahead of a (possible) station.

A company wanting to build a mid-rise housing complex near a future Evergreen Line station in Coquitlam may be offering a development that’s too small — and too soon.

Epix Developments is proposing to construct a six-storey building with 80 apartments and ground-floor commercial space at Falcon and Runnel drives on a vacant lot about 800 m from the Ioco station in Port Moody and two blocks north of a potential future Falcon Drive station.

Epix spokesperson Brad Marko told Coquitlam’s council-in-committee on Monday his company is also working with OK Tire to include its adjacent Falcon Drive property.

With Hotel Plan Gone, Onni Favours Offices

With hotel plan gone, Onni favours offices.

At first it was going to be a hotel, then the plan was to build an office tower.

Now Port Moody residents will get their say on a major development slated for the Suter Brook site at an upcoming public hearing.

The Onni Development Corp. has applied for a land-use contract amendment that would allow the company to build a nine-storey office tower at 220 Brew St., on the south side of Suter Brook Way where it meets Ioco Road.

Changes in Store for Moody’s Core

The Tri-City News – Changes in store for Moody’s core.

Port Moody’s vision for a post-Evergreen Line community includes new mixed-use neighbourhoods, walkable neighbourhoods and even high-density towers in Moody Centre.

The draft of the official community plan update, which has been in the works since shovels went in the ground for Evergreen, was presented to council’s committee of the whole on Tuesday. It pulls together information a public survey, public input session and a design charette and offers the following changes:

• Western end of Moody Centre, next to Barnet Highway: Pictured as PoMo’s western gateway, the proposed changes will bring in more commercial space to serve local residents. Increased density comes with buildings ranging from six to 12 storeys, with multi-family residential development encouraged.
