Plan for 33-storey Tower Clears More Hurdles

Plan for 33-storey tower clears more hurdles.

Despite protests from neighbours to the east and residents directly around the site, a new 33-storey tower straddling the border of Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam received yet another green light Monday.

Coquitlam council unanimously granted second and third readings to a rezoning application designed to accommodate a new development at the corner of Westwood Street and Lincoln Avenue.

Wall to Build Affordable Housing at Seymour and Helmcken

Wall Financial has applied to the City of Vancouver to rezone 1107 Seymour Street from DD to CD-1 to build approximately 22,200 sq. ft. of Social Amenity Space and 56,050 sq. ft. of affordable rental housing, or 81 units. The proposed development will provide 11 floors of affordable rental housing over four levels of office space for the non-profits Positive Living Society of BC and AIDS Vancouver. Two levels of underground parking accessed from the lane will provide 22 parking stalls, bicycle storage and associated service space. The building will be 155 ft. in height and have a density of 8.69 FSR.

Wall acquired the site in October 2011 for $5,000,000, or approximately $185 per buildable sq ft. The site is currently improved with a 2-storey office building.

City Sends Harbourside to Hearing

City sends Harbourside to hearing.

The controversial Harbourside development south of the North Shore Automall will go to an official public hearing in June following a Monday night decision by City of North Vancouver council.

Council voted 5-2 in favour of moving the project forward to a formal official community plan amendment process, after the developers made changes to the original plan and council gathered public feedback in March.
